Cultural Creators Industries call on meaningful implementation of the AI Act
Joint letter with creators and rightsholders organisations
Publishers support the development and integration of AI, including in our industry.
Yesterday, 29 October, FEP, along with 23 other creators and rightsholders organisations, sent a letter to the European Parliament, the incoming European Commission and Member States to call for a meaningful implementation of the EU AI Act that will ensure the respect of our rights and foster the emergence of an ethical AI ecosystem.
The EU gave itself the tools to put an end to the widespread illegal practices that characterised the emergence of generative AI, but it must not drop its guard and facilitate circumvention by GPAI providers. To this end, proper transparency on the training data is paramount to incentivise fair practices, guarantee legal certainty for all and support innovation. Europe should strive to provide the world with high-quality, transparent and safe AI, not engage in a race to the bottom.
The development of AI must respect the rights of a leading European industry.
